ABOUT
Hans-Jürgen Zahorka is a distinguished European consultant, political economist, and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP). With decades of experience in European governance, trade policy, and institutional development, he brings deep expertise in international cooperation and policy design. He currently serves as the Principal Consultant and Advisory Board Member at Euro Asia Ventures (EAV), providing strategic guidance on European affairs and cross-border collaboration.
Education PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Zahorka studied Law, Economics, and Political Science in Germany, building a foundation for his influential career in European institutions and advisory roles. He began as an attorney-at-law and later became Head of a Foreign Chamber Office, representing European business interests abroad. His early exposure to governance and international trade policy shaped his long-term engagement with European development programs.
LEADERSHIP ROLES Institutional Work
He is currently based in Germany and works at the headquarters of LIBERTAS – European Institute GmbH, where he serves as Chief Editor of the European Union Foreign Affairs Journal (EUFAJ). Mr. Zahorka also directs the European Centre for Transnational Integration Studies (ECTIS), leading initiatives that promote European integration, economic cooperation, and policy dialogue. His leadership in these institutions reflects his commitment to strengthening Europe’s external relations and promoting knowledge exchange.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Mr. Zahorka’s expertise spans European law, governance, investment policy, and public–private partnerships. As a senior consultant, he has advised numerous governments, ministries, and organizations such as the European Union, UNDP, and the World Bank on governance reform, trade facilitation, and regional integration. He also served as a rapporteur during the Uruguay Round of GATT negotiations, which later led to the creation of the World Trade Organization (WTO). His work combines academic insight with practical experience in political, economic, and institutional development.

At Euro Asia Ventures, Mr. Zahorka contributes his vast European and international experience to support strategic projects connecting Asia and Europe. He plays a key role in developing partnerships, investment opportunities, and capacity-building initiatives.
