DR. SYED TAHIR HIJAZI
ABOUT
Dr. Syed Tahir Hijazi is an eminent educationist, economist, and governance expert with over four decades of academic and professional excellence. He has worked extensively in Pakistan and abroad, contributing to higher education leadership, governance reform, and economic policy development. He currently serves as the Principal Consultant and a member of the Advisory Board at Euro Asia Ventures (EAV).
EDUCATION AND ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP
Dr. Hijazi earned his Ph.D. in Development Economics from Clark University, USA, and a Master’s in Economic Policy from Boston University. He has served in key academic roles including Vice Chancellor of MY University Islamabad, Rector at the University of Central Punjab, and Dean at the American University in the Emirates, Dubai. His academic career spans 28 years, during which he taught over 120 courses across four countries.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
With specialization in governance, economic policy, and institutional reform, Dr. Hijazi has successfully led more than 38 national and international donor-funded projects with organizations such as the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, UNDP, ILO, USAID, and the Government of Pakistan. His leadership has shaped projects focused on higher education reform, poverty reduction, flood recovery, and governance improvement.
RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS
A prolific researcher, Dr. Hijazi has authored 49 international journal papers and four books on economics and management. His work has achieved over 3,700 citations on Google Scholar, reflecting his global academic impact. His research interests include governance, human resource management, institutional development, and Islamic finance.
